I started writing thirteen years ago, shortly after my second daughter was born (that feels like a long time ago to me!). My first book came out in 2012, so I've been published for six years now.
I've been a reader since before I started grade school. I wanted to read so badly that my mom finally taught me and I've been reading ever since. I broke the reading records in my elementary school and read everything I could get my hands on. I even read encyclopedias and dictionaries! So I definitely was a reader first before I ever became a writer.
Everywhere! I have a laptop so I take my writing wherever I go. A lot of times I write on my bed so my dogs can snuggle up with me. I also like to write outside, at my desk, and at coffeeshops.
I've met some amazing authors who I want to be like. I love how Francine Rivers develops such deep characters. And Tolkien inspired me to write fantasy. I've also met such humble authors who've given me advice and helped me along on my writing journey. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be where I am today.
I have a huge collection of Star Wars books! Every time a new book came out, my husband and I would add it to our collection. I also have a lot of speculative novels, including books from my fellow Enclave authors. I also have some classics like all of Jane Austen's books and Anne of Green Gables. I also love historicals, so you would find quite a few of those on my shelves as well.
I'm working on a whole new fantasy series coming out with Bethany House this fall. It's called Mark of the Raven and it's about a young woman who has the ability to walk in the dreams of people. I'm really excited for this story! It's the first time I'm writing about a family, political intrigue, and of course, there is a lot of soul searching and questions.
