Standing on a scale and praying that the numbers have gone down used to be my way of measuring success. While losing pounds is important, the more I research and study weight loss the less I believe it’s all about the elusive “perfect weight” or “ideal weight”. Instead I look at the connection between waist circumference, healthy numbers (cholesterol, blood pressure, glucose, etc). More important than being skinny or slim is being healthy.
So I am committed to using the tape measure to track my body’s changes. Going from plus size to regular sizes will be a great accomplishment but it isn’t my main motivation. With a passion for wellness and enthusiasm for living whole I believe that a fresh perspective and greater cause than skinny. Measure your success in the small steps you take to improve your lifestyle and make it healthy.
