excerpt from ABC’s to End Emotional Eating

You have had a hard day at work, your children’s teacher called a mandatory conference and the ministry you’re leading is in the middle of a crisis everyone insists only you can correct. Your sitting behind the wheel of your vehicle or walking to the bus stop and the fragrance of your favorite comfort food is beckoning to you. Your mind drifts back to the last chocolate comfort you received when this happened three months ago and you’re wondering if all the eating changes, exercise and praying is worth it. Everyone is looking for you to take care of their problems and you feel like no one is taking care of you.

Don’t believe that hype! Resist those emotions of doubt and confusion by reminding yourself of God’s word. Reflect on how far you have already come and trust that God is willing and able to take you as far as you want to go.

This is my confession:

God is more than able to take care of me and the needs of those around me. He has given me wisdom to know what I can and cannot change in my life. I am giving him all my worries and concerns about what is heavy on my mind today. I have discipline and self control and do not need to use food to give me false comfort because God loves and takes care of me.

1 Peter 5:7-8 (Amplified Bible)              

7Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.
8Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour.
Unhealthy eating and lack of exercise is a way to be devoured, from the inside out.
